Bethany Younkers, MPA
“The science of implementation is a catalyst for successful school improvement. It is a communal act. Moving the burden of accountability away from any one individual and looking at the systems in place. Our work is purposeful. It is an honor to be alongside such passionate educators and to be a part of their efforts. Their work is a nod to those bearing witness, meaningful and sustaining changes for school communities is possible.”
Bethany Younkers has been a part of the Healthier Generation team since 2021. In her role she supports schools, districts, community partners and organizations through tools, resources, and training on continuous improvement. Ensuring the integration of culture, history, values, assets, and needs of the community.
Prior to joining Healthier Generation Bethany spent 16 years supporting individuals with disabilities. Her time in education as both a classroom teacher and administrator in Hawaii and West Philadelphia focused on whole child health and educational equity practices and policies. She helped to develop comprehensive programs that focused on marginalized youth with different neurological, behavioral, social, and emotional needs through developing support and fostering relationships with organizations, parents, and the community. She has witnessed firsthand the unique challenges the education environment holds.
Throughout her career she saw how strong relationships were at the foundation of great success. She keeps this at the forefront of all her work. It is not about the training materials, and toolkits to support staff and students, but the healing-centered know-how and methods of the individuals doing the work.
Bethany holds a special education supervisor certification from Saint Joseph’s University, a Masters in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management from West Chester University, and a Bachelors of Science in Special Education from Kutztown University. Most recently she has become a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach (INHC).
Bethany is a published author. In her free time, you can catch her busting a dance move in her plant-based kitchen. Or cooking up something delicious with her toddler.
