AAPI Youth Rising

AAPI Youth Rising (AYR) is a collective of young advocates working toward inclusion and understanding in communities. AYR was founded by Time Kid of the Year finalist Mina Fedor and a team of middle school students based in Berkeley, California. In March 2021, Mina organized a rally to raise awareness of and solidarity against anti-Asian violence and xenophobia. The rally drew 1,200 community members of all ages and backgrounds.

Today, AYR is calling on communities all over the country to advocate for greater understanding and cultural awareness through education. Their ONE/180 Pledge is asking schools to dedicate at least one day of the 180-day school year to teaching AAPI history and culture to K-12 students – perspectives that are still rarely taken in American history classes. When students see themselves represented in history, they can better picture themselves making history.

Join us in lifting up the stories of Asian American and Pacific Islanders throughout history and sign the ONE/180 Pledge.
