The Healthy Schools Builder® is an easy-to-use online tool that guides schools through the process of establishing healthier school environments. The Builder can help your school identify their status as a healthy school and develop a customized action plan to make positive and healthy changes.

Builder steps include:

Completing an inventory based on the Healthy Schools Program Framework
Reviewing results and deciding on locally important and possible changes
Creating a plan of action and using Alliance resources to get you started

Any school can try the Builder on his or her own when they join the Healthy Schools Program. Each school that signs up for the Builder has only one official entry. We recommend that you designate a member of your School Wellness Council, which could be your principal, a teacher or a parent for example, to complete your school’s official program entry. For School Wellness Council members who want to have access to our tools and resources, they can join the Healthy Schools Program Network to help support their school’s efforts.

The Healthy Schools Builder® identifies how your school is doing and provides you with additional steps your school can take to develop a healthier place for students and staff. It can also help you determine if your school meets the Healthy Schools Program’s Framework criteria and may be eligible to apply for for a National Recognition Award.
