Step 5: Include student and faculty representatives early and often in this process You may be concerned that students will not purchase lower calorie and more nutritious items and revenues will be lost. Case studies have shown, however, that change is met with much less resistance when administrators listen to the voices of those whose behavior they are trying to change – the students. Without a doubt, the best way to get students’ buy-in on the changes is to involve them. Students tend to resist changes they view as being “imposed” on them by school administrators, so seek their input. Teachers can also provide valuable insights. They have important experience and expertise, especially in the areas of student motivation, curriculum, and the day-to-day functioning of the school building and classrooms. They can offer insight into trends in student achievement and behaviors. |
